St Vianney's Timaru Trust
Purpose: The St Vianneys Timaru Trust was created by the Sisters of Compassion and the Trust funds came from the sale of the aged care facility together with accumulated funds in the Home of Compassion Timaru business. The treat was created to continue and further the works and mission of the Sisters of Compassion in the Timaru community. During its existence in Timaru, the Home of Compassion provided care, mainly for the elderly but also the mentally and physically impaired residents. With an increasing number of "commercial" aged care facilities being created, and due to the age of the buildings, the home was closed and assets sold but the funds vested in the Trust so that the Timaru community could still receive benefit, especially opportunities in the "health" related areas and where the wider community would benefit. Such benefit was not determined by income, age, religion or race.
